Wildlife In Botswana

History-Botswana a former British protectorate attained independence in 1966. The country has established itself as one of the few successful multi-party democratic states in the Sub-Saharan Africa. Free, fair and peaceful general elections are held after every five years. Chobe National Park- Chobe National Park has one of the world's largest elephant populations in Africa. The natural unspoiled environment of the Chobe, makes one to wonder whether there is any other place in the world where the sun rises and sets in its own peculiar way like it does in Chobe region. The park is the second largest in the country covering an area of about 10, 566sq.km. The Chobe River flows along the northern edge of the park bordering Botswana and Namibia and gives that rare natural colourful feature.Camping facilities which exists in the Chobe National Park includes: Serondela, a developed site with ablution facilities; Linyati, partially developed; Savuti a temporary camping ground and Noghatsaa yet to be developed.

Wildlife of the Linyanti-The three private concessions within the Wetlands are the wildest in the country, surrounded by papyrus and reeds swamps, open grassland and riverine forests that are home to a variety of game and bird life. The entire area is superb for elephant but they are possibly at their most spectacular along the Linyanti River. Huge breeding herds numbering hundreds can be heard trumpeting their way through the papyrus to drink from the river. As the sun sets, watching elephant immerge from the water then trundle up the yellow plains to the forest in a cloud of dust is one of the great sights of Africa. The wide open grasslands are frequented by herds of zebra, wildebeest and giraffe and in the shady forests you can hear baboon barking into the air. There are also several prides of lion and this is also an excellent area for spotting the elusive leopard and rare wild dog.

Nairobi's Best Attractions

History- The history of Nairobi goes back to about 100 years. The city originated when a railway track from Mombassa to Uganda was being established in 1896. The construction of the railway track necessitated the migration of labour, especially of Indian origin, into this region. All these activities had a growth potential which saw its conclusion in the year 1900, when this region was given the status of a town by the British government. In 1907 Nairobi became the capital of East Africa, a position it snatched from Mombassa. The first plan of Nairobi was conceived in 1926, although many of its elements were never realized due to economic depression and the Second World War. When Kenya gained its independence in 1963 Nairobi remained the capital city of the new republic. Since then, the city has witnessed several changes which have turned the city into one of Africa's leading regional centers.

Moscow Tourist Attractions

Moscow was Russia's capital before Peter the Great moved the capital to his new city, St. Petersburg. But Moscow never lost its intensity or spirit - one that has inspired authors and poets, ensnared the nobility with its charms, and proved to be the center of Soviet mystique during the Cold War. Moscow represents both the Russia of yesterday and the Russia of today

Michigan Theatre- The Michigan Theatre is the only remaining historic movie palace in Jackson County. Opened in 1930, it was the last and largest of several movie palaces built in Jackson. It was also the first air-conditioned building in Jackson, a feature that brought in the summer crowds. Designed in the Spanish Baroque style, the Michigan Theatre features ornate plasterwork, marble, imported antique artwork and walnut paneling. The terra-cotta facade and its rooftop cupola resemble a church from 18th century Spain. The Theatre's original appearance has changed little since it opened. Restoration and renovation efforts began in 1993, and over $1.5 million has been spend on the project. Today, while still in the process of being fully renovated, the Michigan screens classic and art films, runs a popular summer film series for kids, hosts a number of special events and the occasional film premiere, and its stage is host to concerts and local theater productions.
